Pierre Robin Sequence

Pierre Robin Sequence is the name given to a birth condition in which the lower jaw is smaller in size or set back from the upper jaw. The end result is that the tongue is displaced back towards the throat, where it can fall back and block the airway. In most cases, the effected child will also have a cleft palate. However, none of the infants will have cleft lips.
